SEQ Floods 19-21 May 2009

Posted by Andy Barber on May 25, 2009 at 12:11 PM

We have added a new catagory in the Photography section for the extensive floods that effect South-East Queensland and North-East NSW between the 19th-21st of May 2009.

An upper trough and three surface lows dumped hundreds of millimetres of Rain onto the Sunshine, Gold and Tweed Coasts in Mid-May 2009. This led to major flooding of Slacks Creek peaking just of 6 metres. The persistant lows also produced flash flooding in the Gold Coast Hinterland, we also received 320mm where we are located.

Brisbanes dams also faired well with levels past 60 per cent capacity. Over this event we had photographs published in the Courier-Mail, Albert and Logan News with the Chardon's Bridge Road flood video aired on Channel 10.

Feel free to check out the Photographs in the new section as listed above.
